Our Story

Wardo's Poboys was created in honor of Alan Ward Graning, III, fondly known by family and friends as WARDO!

On June 8, 2019, the oldest brother of our tribe passed away unexpectantly. His remaining siblings and loved ones wanted to honor his memory in a special way. Immediately, the Ward Graning Scholarship was set up and distributed to seniors from Cathedral School who exhibited the amazing character that Ward had shown throughout his life.

In 2022, Ward's family decided to combine the need for a sandwich shop in downtown Natchez with the desire to pay tribute to Ward's love of gathering with good friends in a comfortable space for good times, good food, and good conversation--and, of course, Alabama football! Through blood, sweat, tears and countless hours of hard work, Wardo's was born.

As our building has stood for over a century, we hope that the qualities of "family first," kindness, dedication, hard work, fairness and love will show through our service to the Natchez community and her visitors in our New Orleans Style Poboy Shop throughout the next century.
